Portions of the Sopris Splash Zone Are Currently Closed

Regarding the recent cryptosporidium incident

On Sept. 11, the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment issued a health advisory after four cases of cryptosporidium were reported. Out of an abundance of caution the children’s aquatic area at the west end of the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort was closed for the season while it undergoes rigorous disinfection. Glenwood Hot Springs Resort considers the safety of our guests to be a top priority and uses state-of-the-art filtration and disinfection systems in this area with 24/7 monitoring. All required systems appear to have been functioning properly and pool chemistry was within the state required levels at all times. The investigation has zeroed in on the children’s play area. The resort’s other water amenities which are not the focus—both hot springs pools and the adventure river ride—will remain open and operational as normal. We are deeply sorry and apologize to any of our visitors who have had a negative experience related to this incident. For more information, please see this Glenwood Springs Post Independent article

Water has never been more thrilling — because Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is in the final stages of a complete make-over of our west-end pool section. We have replaced the existing waterslides, kiddie pool, and miniature golf course with the Sopris Spash Zone, an all new area with water attractions for the whole family.

The Sopris Splash Zone will offer you and your family new ways to splash your way to happiness, with:

• Shoshone Chutes: A whitewater river tube ride that plunges you downhill with plenty of twists and turns and screams. You'll feel like you're riding down a mountain creek in Colorado—with lush landscaping, cascading tiers, and boulders.

Sopris Splash Zone: A new children's play area with mini-water slides, interactive water features, shallow play areas, and shade structures for sun protection

Grand Fountain: A water feature that acts as a kid-friendly splash pad by day — by night it becomes a lighted fountain that can be seen by pool-goers and Glenwood Springs visitors strolling across the pedestrian bridge
