2023 Scholarship Winners Announced!

Kiera Larson and Kragen Wild are the newest recipients of the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Higher Education Scholarship, an annual endowment, this year totaling $10,000.00. Kiera and Kragen have been selected out of the 44 applications received.

For 28 years running, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has helped young people achieve their dreams of improving their futures through continued learning. The Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Higher Education Scholarship was created in 1995 to financially assist goal-oriented individuals who attend accredited institutions of higher learning, including four-year colleges and universities, community colleges, or trade schools. Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has awarded $253,000 to deserving young people to date. Many exceptional students presented applications for evaluation from schools all over the area.

Kiera and Kragen will each receive $5,000 awards. This award is payable per semester over four years and requires each candidate to be a student in good standing.

Kiera Larson is a Glenwood Springs High School senior and plans to attend Plymouth State University in New Hampshire to study criminal justice. She is the daughter of Shane and Amy Larson of Glenwood Springs. Kiera has worked as a lifeguard at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort since May 2021 and completed extra academic classes in Psychology, Criminology, and History during high school. As an outstanding athlete, she has been awarded All-Conference and All-State Softball honors multiple times. Kiera has also coached little league softball and been a camp counselor to younger kids.

Kragen is a freshman at the University of Denver, where he is studying computer science. He graduated from Coal Ridge High School last year. Kragen is the son of Patrick and Monica Wild of New Castle. He has worked as a lifeguard at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort since July 2021 and continues to work seasonally when not in school. Kragen has taken a rigorous course load at DU, including Calculus and Japanese as a foreign language, and made the Dean’s list. Kragen hopes that he can be part of the changes we need to make to prevent global warming and climate change and promote longevity by being able to continue his studies with the assistance of this scholarship.

Congratulations to our 2023 Glenwood Springs Higher Education Scholarship winners!
