Kiera Larson and Kragen Wild receive scholarships for academic studies
Glenwood Springs, Colorado (June 1, 2023) – Kiera Larson and Kragen Wild are the latest recipients of the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort Higher Education Scholarship. A total of $10,000 was awarded this year, with Larson and Wild both receiving $5,000 for their college educations.
For 28 years running, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort (GHSR) has helped young people achieve dreams for their futures through continued learning. The scholarship was created in 1995 to financially assist goal-oriented individuals attend accredited institutions of higher learning, including four-year colleges and universities, community colleges and trade schools. To date, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort has given away $253,000 to deserving young people.
This year, 44 students representing schools from throughout the Glenwood Springs submitted applications. The scholarships are payable per semester over four years and require each recipient to be a student in good standing.
Larson is a 2023 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School and plans to study criminal justice at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. She completed extra academic classes in psychology, criminology and history during high school and played softball, receiving All-Conference and All-State honors multiple times. Interacting with kids also has been a priority, working as a lifeguard at Glenwood Hot Springs Pool since May 2021, coaching Little League softball, and serving as a camp counselor. She is the daughter of Shane and Amy Larson of Glenwood Springs.
Wild is wrapping up his freshman year at the University of Denver, where he is studying computer science and made the dean’s list while taking a rigorous course load that includes calculus and Japanese as a foreign language. He graduated in 2022 from Coal Ridge High School in New Castle and worked as a lifeguard at GHSR starting in July 2021. Wild hopes to help address the challenges caused by global warming and climate change and is the son of Patrick and Monica Wild of New Castle.
