Glenwood Hot Springs Awards Scholarships to Two College-Bound Seniors

Local high school seniors Gunnar Pagni and Hannah Padgett were each awarded the Glenwood Hot Springs Higher Education Scholarship, an endowment that provides $10,000 in funds annually to college-bound seniors.

Glenwood Springs, Colo. (May 9, 2013) – For the past 18 years Glenwood Hot Springs has been helping young people achieve their dreams. The Glenwood Hot Springs Higher Education Scholarship was created in 1995 to financially assist local college-bound seniors. This year, the hot mineral springs resort named two winners: Hannah Padgett from Glenwood Springs High School and Gunnar Pagni from Coal Ridge High School.

2013 Scholarship Winners“Presenting this scholarship to these deserving special people is one of the highlights of my job,” said Kjell Mitchell, president and chief executive officer for Glenwood Hot Springs. “The value of higher education cannot be overstated. Glenwood Hot Springs is pleased to be able to support and further the future professional goals of our local young adults through this scholarship.”

Pagni and Padgett will receive $5,000 each, distributed over four years. The gift is contingent on the students maintaining good grades at their respective universities.

Gunnar Pagni is a Coal Ridge High School senior who will attend Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction. He is looking forward to studying engineering in the fall. Pagni has many accolades to his credit; he is a member of National Honor Society, captain of the Coal Ridge football team and was named Student of the Year as a freshman. As a Glenwood Hot Springs employee, Pagni has worked as a pool attendant, lifeguard and pool cashier. He is the son of Tony and Sarah Pagni.

Glenwood Springs High School senior Hannah Padgett plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where she will enter the school’s prestigious nursing program. She is the daughter of Fred and Shar Padgett. Padgett has been employed at the Glenwood Hot Springs Grill since 2008 and is actively involved in community service through the Key Club at her school.

Congratulations to both Padgett and Pagni, 2013 Glenwood Hot Springs Higher Education Scholarship winners.
