The Hot Springs Kept Me Sane

I moved to Aspen from the Finger Lakes Country of upstate New York in 1952. I had grown up on Conesus Lake so swimming was part of my DNA.

Luckily, the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool was there and I could get my water swimming fix there. When our five children were all born, they all swam in the Hot Springs Pool and some even learned to swim in the Kiddie Pool...when we could spend a whole day at the Pool.

After I became a reporter-photographer at The Aspen Times newspaper, I was so busy with news...and I became the editor in 1977; I was often overwhelmed!

The only thing that kept me sane was the Hot Springs Pool! I have had a membership for years and could not live without it!

The photo is of my husband, Jim Hayes, who was a silversmith for over 60 years in Aspen...with our first daughter, Pauli Hayes, at the pool in about 1955.
