Glenwood Springs, CO (April 23, 2009) – At its Annual Gala Awards ceremony Thursday, April 23^rd, at the Aspen Glen Club in Glenwood Springs, the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association honored one business entity for being both an exciting new venue on Glenwood’s tourism scene while at the same time being its oldest ongoing tourism business.

 

After more than a year of construction, the new Spa of the Rockies was unveiled in October 2008. This $10 million, 13,000 square foot project is a welcome addition to the Glenwood Hot Springs complex and to the Glenwood Springs community. The Spa of the Rockies embraces health and wellness with many holistic and mineral based treatments including massage, body treatments, hydrotherapy, facials, hand, foot and nail services.

In its 120^th year of operation, the Glenwood Hot Springs is the oldest continuous business in the region. The natural mineral springs provide many healing qualities, while the football-field-sized outdoor swimming pool and smaller therapy pool provide a playground for watery fun and relaxation.

It is the largest thermal mineral pool in the world, roughly the size of a football field. The heated waters are a comfortable 90°-93°F in the large pool and a toasty 104°F in the smaller, therapy pool. Water slides, diving boards, and bubble chairs bring out the kid in everyone. Visitors have access to modern locker room facilities, lounge chairs, towel service, and swim suit rentals.  

 

The newly opened Spa of the Rockies extends the therapeutic, relaxing qualities of the mineral springs. Spa services include a variety of massages, facials, hydrotherapy and nail treatments. The focus is on wellness and natural health practices, which have a deep-rooted history at this facility. The resort also includes the 107-room Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge, Glenwood Hot Springs Athletic Club, Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop, Glenwood Hot Springs Grill, and a challenging miniature golf course.
