Two Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association awards honor the Spa of the Rockies and the Glenwood Hot Springs, one as a new addition to, the other as a veteran business in the tourism industry. Both help solidify the Spa of the Rockies’ and the Glenwood Hot Springs’ reputation as a “premier spa destination” for visitors around the globe.

Glenwood Springs, CO (April 23, 2009) – At its Annual Gala Awards ceremony Thursday, April 23rd, at the Aspen Glen Club in Glenwood Springs, the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association honored one business entity for being both an exciting new venue on Glenwood’s tourism scene while at the same time being its oldest ongoing tourism business.

After more than a year of construction, the new Spa of the Rockies was unveiled in October 2008. This $10 million, 13,000 square foot project is a welcome addition to the Glenwood Hot Springs complex and to the Glenwood Springs community. The Spa of the Rockies embraces health and wellness with many holistic and mineral based treatments including massage, body treatments, hydrotherapy, facials, hand, foot and nail services.

“The 2009 Bosco Tourism Business of the Year Award recognizes the substantial investment and dedication to ongoing quality and excellence in tourism promotion by the Glenwood Hot Springs,” said Marianne Virgili, President and CEO, Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association.

The Top Brass Award, which is selected by the Glenwood Springs Chamber Ambassadors, honors personal or professional achievement, business expansion or milestones. In its 120th year of operation, the Glenwood Hot Springs is the oldest continuous business in the region. The natural mineral springs provide many healing qualities, while the football-field-sized outdoor swimming pool and smaller therapy pool provide a playground for watery fun and relaxation.

“Throughout our 120 year history we’ve been in the business of helping people feel better. Over the years we’ve added many amenities but our mission to help people feel better remains constant,” said Kjell Mitchell, COO/General Manager, Glenwood Hot Springs.
