Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop Partners with Webkinz for Charity

The Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop and the company that makes the collectible Webkinz will team up this year for a 3 day event that benefits everyone, but especially Glenwood’s Youth Zone. The Glenwood Springs Police Department will also be at the Sport Shop on Saturday, May 2, to fingerprint and give Kids ID kits to the first 75 children to come in between 9-11 am.

Glenwood Springs, CO (April 23, 2009) The Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop has the largest selection of the cuddly Webkinz animals on the Western Slope, and for the weekend of May 1-3 kids and collectors can buy special editions of Webkinz for only $1.00 with any purchase of $15.00 in the shop. All proceeds from the $1.00 sale will be donated to Glenwood Springs Youth Zone.

This special sale is part of the now-annual Webkinz Extravaganza which is celebrating the fourth year of production for Ganz’s enormously popular stuffed animal “pets”. Each animal comes with a unique Secret Code that enables owners to enter Webkinz World online to access tips on how to care for their virtual pet, answer trivia questions, and play games. Ganz has created specially tagged Webkinz for this particular event, and buyers will have until May 31, 2009 to register their charity Webkinz, then those codes will expire. The Sport Shop has 300 Webkinz to sell for this promotion, and there will be a drawing in conjunction with the Extravaganza in which two children will win a wardrobe for their Webkinz pets.

The Ganz Company has founded a charitable organization (www.webkinzfoundation.org) to develop programs and donate funds to programs that benefit children. The Webkinz Foundation is dedicated to improving the welfare, health, development and safety of children everywhere. To support that goal, the Glenwood Springs Police Department will have representatives in the store on Saturday morning, May 2, from 9 am – 11 am. They will fingerprint and offer Kids ID kits to the first 75 children who come in.

“All of our promotions with Webkinz have been received well in our community,” said Judy Myers, Manager of the Sport Shop. “If people come in just to purchase regular merchandise, they have the option to buy a Webkinz for $1.00 and we will donate that pet to Valley View Hospital.”

The Glenwood Hot Springs Sport Shop is also recognized as having the largest selection of swimwear on the Western Slope, and they are also recognized locally as having a large and diverse collection of Crocs. The Sport Shop opens at 9:00 am and closes at 8:00pm daily, and is located inside the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool lobby.
