Congratulations to Newly Certified Lifeguard Instructors
In October, four of our lifeguards completed their lifeguard instructor certification. Congratulations to: Asaf Olivas, Alicia Whiteside, Deb Barnekow, Kenia Contreras.
This certification trains regular lifeguards to become lifeguard instructors; they learn how to teach students the skills they need to become professional lifeguards. To attain the American Red Cross certification, each candidate must possess both leadership and technical skills. “It’s a big deal,” Tricia Bosarge, their instructor, said. “They are responsible for teaching others how to save lives and how to use their training in an emergency.”
Once certified, lifeguard instructors are qualified to teach basic, aquatic attraction and blended learning lifeguarding; waterfront and waterpark modules; and CPR/AED for professional rescuers.
