Guard on Duty: First Aid for Sudden Fainting

Emergencies happen suddenly. When alarming situations arise, you must quickly decide how to best respond—including when to call for help. Hot springs, which are a wonderful asset for wellness and health, also come with their own set of risks. At the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, lifeguards are trained to respond to a variety of emergencies. Geothermal water can be dehydrating, so when visitors spend extended amounts of time in the pool without drinking water, the chances of fainting increase. If you see these warning signs in other swimmers, alert an on-duty lifeguard right away:

  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Weakness
  • Blurred Vision

With trained staff able to tackle emergencies such as sudden fainting, the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool ensures a safe environment for all visitors. Our lifeguards recommend soaking in the Therapy Pool for 15-minute intervals and drinking plenty of fresh water. Also, if you ever feel dizzy or light-headed while at the pool, please ask for assistance.
