I Offered Her a Quarter for the Bubble Chair

It was a rather cool summer evening on June 12th, 1983. The steam from the pool made it feel like you were in the middle of a dense cloud. A slight breeze would occasionally move the fog enough to see other people in the hot pool at Glenwood Springs Pool and Spa.

I was relaxing on one of their bubble chairs when I saw a young, attractive girl looking at the bubble chairs wondering how she could get the chairs to bubble. I was close enough to tell her they were $0.25 and where to deposit the coins. I instantly figured she didn't have any money on her and offered her a quarter for the bubble chair, on me. She agreed and sat in the chair next to me. We talked and I found out she was from the Denver area, as I was.

We were both young and I felt like fate had brought us together. She had just graduated High School the week before and I had already had my career going. We spent hours and hours talking and the more time I spent with her, I knew there was something; maybe the Powers of the Hot Springs Pool, but it was something special. Before we went our separate ways, I asked her for her number and we had our first date the following weekend.

Flash forward 30 years: We dated for five years as she went to college to get her teaching degree. We then married and are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary this July. We always remember our Glenwood anniversary exactly -30 years ago. We have two beautiful teenage girls who know the importance of the Glenwood Springs Pool and Spa. We go there often, but sadly, not often enough.

This is a 100% true story. We've told the story to many people throughout the years and they seem to always remember it as "The Story" regarding how we met. Everyone has their own "How we met story," but ours is very special to us.

I hope you enjoyed our story. Without the Glenwood Hot Springs and Spa, I never would have met my wife and had the family I'm blessed with.

P.S. - My wife was diagnosed with MS 17 years ago and while they say "hot" is not good for you, She feels wonderful after a visit to the Pool.
